I will use that word: awful
to name what you have done
it doesn't matter why you did it
no excuse will justify
the course you chose to take.
Too many people say that it's o.k.
or understandable
but you were the one
the only one
who had the bomb or gun.
You had a chance
to do nothing at all
to let the child live
to let the man go home
to wife and family.
You are no hero
though you think you are
freedom is not what you gain
you fight to satisfy yourself
to feed off pain and grief.
And there are poems glorifying you
and there are movies glorifying you
man with a gun, with a bomb
but I say you are:
awful.
